Description
The Ramadi barrage is located at (2) kilometers west of the city of AL-Ramadi in Anbar Governorate, across Euphrates River it is one of the main structures of AL-Habbaniya scheme, controlling the Euphrates water levels necessary to divert water into Habbaniya Lake through Al Warrar regulator. The barrage Is A concrete Structure it is 209 m long includes 24 vertical lift steel gates each 6x8m with a total discharge of 3600 m3/sec .The design upstream water level (Pond Level ) is 51.50 masl . A 40m long, 6 m wide Navigation Lock is provided, along with the Fish ladder 7m long and 3.5 m wide. The gates were renovated in 1991 since some of them were destroyed by the US air force during the first gulf war. 7 m wide bridges with two 1.50 m walkways are constructed on the barrage to connect both sides of Ramadi city. the construction is started in 1952 and completed in 1956 .
Needs
Detailed Inspection and Evaluation for all the Structures by qualified consultants is required, this includes, Ramadi Barrage, Al Warrar Regulator, Al Thibban Regulator and Al Mijarra Regulator. In order to define the required maintenance and /or replacement and improvement works. A new bathymetry survey is required for the river reaches upstream and downstream the barrage to evaluate the sediment accumulation within the upstream reach and the scour if any within the downstream reach, this will define the required dredging, cleaning and/ or protection works. A survey of the area around teh barrage is required to establish if people are now settled around the flood escape site.
Objective
The scheme was constructed for the Flood control of Euphrates river and offer safety for the downstream areas and Euphrates River Basin, this is done by diverting part of Euphrates River via Al Warrar Regulator and inlet channel to Habbaniya Lake whic
